As a general rule, don’t share personally identifiable information with the AI (for example: your name, student names, grades, and email addresses).
Be sure to check the privacy policy for any AI tool you choose to use. Look for FERPA and COPPA compliance, as well as any age restrictions.
With generative AI becoming more widely available, student plagiarism is a valid concern. Because of this, teachers have turned to plagiarism checkers. However, plagiarism checkers often flag content as plagiarized when it is not. Therefore, proceed with caution when using AI detection tools; none are 100% accurate.
