Professors in the department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering are looking for undergraduates to help with their research projects. See the descriptions below and reach out to any professors whose projects seem interesting to you.
Professor Luo has positions available on two projects. 1. The project involves liquid ion-stripping combined with electrodialysis for low temperature waste heat recovery. A student is needed to build a continuous liquid phase ion-stripping loop and combine it with an electrodialysis cell to generate electricity. 2. This project is studying thermal rectification, where the student will build a cell consisting of a bi-layer composite and measure the thermal conductivity and thermal rectification factors using a heat conduction machine. Please contact him by email at tluo@nd.edu.
Professor Neretina has a position available on a project which requires designing a simple mechanical/electrical device for in-situ measurements for nanomaterial synthesis. Please either contact her by email at sneretina@nd.edu or visit her office at 370 Fitzpatrick Hall.
Professor Peng has positions available studying the construction of tensegrity structures and studying flapping foils as flow energy harvesters. Please stop by his office on Tuesdays or Wednesday afternoons at 369 Fitzpatrick Hall.
Professor Richter has positions available using numerical simulations to study turbulence in the atmosphere and sea spray transport above the air-sea interface. Please either contact him by email at David.Richter.26@nd.edu or visit his office at 120A Cushing Hall.
Professor Sakaue studies luminescent imaging and chemical flow control. He is looking for a student to help with those projects. Please email him at hsakaue@nd.edu.
Professor Zorlutuna has a position available on a project studying heart muscle cell biomechanics and biofabrication. Please contact her by email at Pinar.Zorlutuna.1@nd.edu.
If you are a professor looking for undergraduate researchers, please fill out this form and we will include your information on this page.
