If you feel confident in your course selections and do not need an advising meeting, you may complete the form below to request release of your Term Advisement Hold.
Ms. Stone will review your submission and email you if there are questions or once your hold has been removed.
Please submit the form at least one week before your enrollment date, in case it is determined that a meeting is still needed.
Important Restrictions:
The form will not accept responses until the Spring & Summer 2026 schedules are published and the shopping cart opens on Wednesday, October 8.
EFY students are not permitted to submit this form unless they are planning to CODA into another major and have already met with that department’s advisor.

Appointment Availability:
In-Person: Wednesdays and Thursdays
Zoom: Monday - Friday
No drop-in advising during pre-registration advising (Oct 16-Nov 14)
Summer Registration: Opens at the same time as Spring. Use Enrollment Wizard to toggle between terms.
Departments can continue to edit their summer schedule until January so more courses may be added if you don't see what you need!
DO NOT WAIT until the March enrollment window to register for summer courses. They do fill up!
Pack Planner vs. Shopping Cart:
Put courses in both your Pack Planner and your shopping cart.
Your degree audit only recognizes Pack Planner until you are officially enrolled.
If you only use the shopping cart, you won’t be able to confirm courses are counting correctly toward your requirements.
Always Verify with Degree Audit:
Double-check your registered courses against your degree audit.
If something isn’t counting as expected, contact Ms. Stone.
Enrollment Help:
MSE courses: Email Ms. Stone for enrollment assistance.
Other departments: Use the Enrollment Contacts page.
Additional Opportunities:
Research for credit can count as a technical elective – Learn more.
Interested in the Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Program? – Learn more.
Financial Aid Requirements:
You must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.
Financial aid only counts courses that apply to your major and/or minor.
If unsure about your enrollment status, check with your financial aid counselor.
Seniors: In your final semester only, you may take fewer than 12 hours and still be considered full-time.
Ethics Requirement:
An Ethics elective is required for the MSE major.
It may also double-count as either an Interdisciplinary Perspective or a Humanities GEP, depending on which course you choose.
Humanities GEP:
You must complete 6 credit hours from two different disciplines.
Example: You cannot take two Philosophy courses and have them both count toward the requirement.
Health & Exercise Studies (HES):
HES courses can (and should) be taken as S/U (Sat/Unsat) grading.
Tip: Switch the grading format at the time of enrollment so you don’t forget later.
Apply to Graduate: View upcoming graduation application deadlines.
NC State Commencement will be Saturday, May 9, 2026.
MSE Department Graduation will tentatively be Friday, May 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Hunt Library Auditorium.
