Pre-Registration Advising
FALL 2024
Registration and Records has put a "Term Advisement Hold" on your MyPack Portal account and has assigned you an individual enrollment date. This is not a cause for concern!
Wednesday, March 6 the Fall 2024 schedule will be published and your shopping cart in Enrollment Wizard will be available.
Thursday, March 7 pre-registration advising with Ms. Stone will be available. NOTE: Spring Break is March 11-15.
You MUST be advised before your hold will be removed. Enrollment dates are between March 22 and April 3. Check MyPack Portal for the exact day/time that you can begin enrolling.
Read the instructions below carefully.
Pre-Registration Advising Instructions
Check MyPack Portal for the exact date and time that you can begin enrolling.
Review your degree audit for what you should take in the Fall 2024 term.
Put courses into your Pack Planner. Tip: Click "Load Suggested Plan" and it will show you all the courses required for your degree. You can then add them individually to your plan or add them all.
Add courses to your shopping cart in Enrollment Wizard. Tip: if the courses are already in your Pack Planner when you click on "Add to Cart" you can see your planned classes under "Planner Courses" and add them from there instead of having to search for each one. It saves a lot of time!
Check for prerequisites and restrictions
Come up with backup course options
Review your degree audit again to make sure you are taking the appropriate courses.
Make and attend your Pre-Registration Advising Appointment by clicking on the button below OR submit the pre-registration advising form (read more below).
Tip: Make sure your appointment is before your enrollment date and time! Also, make sure you don't schedule an appointment during one of your classes.
Your hold will be removed after your pre-registration advising appointment.
Enroll in courses at your assigned date and time.
For any course you cannot enroll yourself in - check the Enrollment Contacts page for who to contact.
Change any HES courses to S/U grading
Triple-check your degree audit. For any issues or questions, contact Ms. Stone.
To schedule your advising appointment, please click the link below, select a time that fits your schedule, and click save. You will receive an email confirming the appointment time and details. Appointments are offered in person on Wednesdays and Thursdays and on Zoom Monday - Friday. When making the appointment, click "Meeting Type" to select virtual or in-person. Appointments are 30 minutes long.
Option 2: Pre-Registration Advising Form
If you believe your schedule is set and you do not need advising, you can fill out the form below to request to have your hold removed without meeting with me. I will respond via email if I have any questions or if I have removed the “Term Advisement” hold. Please fill out the form at least one week prior to your enrollment date in case I determine that we need to meet.
NOTE: the pre-registration advising form will not accept responses until the Fall 2024 course schedule is published on March 6.
Pre-Registration Advising Form for Prospective MSE Major or Current/Prospective MSE Minor Students
Prospective MSE majors or current/prospective MSE Minor students should fill out this form if they want to be advised by the MSE Academic Advisor and have their hold released. Students will have the option to be responded to via email or virtual/in-person appointment.
Important Reminders
Summer registration opened at the same time as Spring registration. You can toggle between terms in Enrollment Wizard.
Put courses in your Pack Planner AND your shopping cart. Your degree audit will pull from Pack Planner until you enroll in the courses. It will not pull from the shopping cart (meaning you will not be able to verify that courses are counting as they should be if you only use the shopping cart).
ALWAYS double-check what you register for against your degree audit. If a course is not where you think it should be (meaning it isn’t counting at all or it isn’t counting as you thought it would), contact Ms. Stone.
If you cannot enroll in a specific course:
MSE Courses: Email Ms. Stone and she can enroll you.
Outside of MSE: Check the Enrollment Contacts page for who to contact.
Research can be done for credit and can count as a technical elective. Learn more
Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Program: Learn more
Financial aid requires students to be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and ONLY counts courses towards your major and/or minor. Check with your financial aid advisor if you have questions about your enrollment status.
Seniors: ONLY during your final semester you can go below 12 hours and still be counted as a full-time student.
GEP & Ethics Reminders
The Ethics elective can double count as an Interdisciplinary Perspective or Humanities GEP course, depending on which course you choose.
Humanities GEP courses MUST be from two different disciplines. For example, you cannot take two philosophy courses and have them both count towards the 6 credit hours of Humanities requirement.
HES classes can (and should) be taken as S/U grading. I recommend changing the grading format while you are enrolling in the course so that you don’t forget.
