The InfuseCS project brings together an interdisciplinary research team with expertise spanning advanced learning technologies and education research with a history of successful collaboration. PI Bradford Mott (Computer Science, North Carolina State University) is Senior Research Scientist in the Center for Educational Informatics at North Carolina State University where he specializes in technology-rich learning and has many years’ experience leading research on federally supported projects for K-12 STEM education. PI Cathy Ringstaff (Science and Engineering, WestEd) is a Senior Research Associate at WestEd and has extensive experience investigating the impact of innovative STEM programs in K-12 education. The PIs are joined by experts in learning sciences, elementary science education, and instructional technology: co-PI Aleata Hubbard Cheuoua (Learning and Technology, WestEd), whose research focuses on understanding the expertise needed by teachers for effective computer science teaching at the K-12 level; co-PI James Minogue (Elementary Science Education, North Carolina State University), whose research investigates learning technology interventions for the physical sciences; and co-PI Kevin Oliver (Learning Design and Technology, North Carolina State University), whose research focuses on innovative, theory-guided interventions in makerspaces and online learning communities.
