I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the Fiber and Polymer Science program at North Carolina State University located in Raleigh, NC. Currently, I am a part of the Budhathoki Research Group researching the development of optical nanosensors for personal health and environmental monitoring. My research focuses on utilizing near-infrared fluorescent nanomaterials for monitoring of emerging contaminants and biological indicators. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work as a Research Assistant in the Analytical Services Lab within the Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Sciences department for one year.
Previously, I worked in industry for two years as a Laboratory Assistant for Cotton Incorporated and a Product/Operations Analyst for Elevate Textiles - Cone Demin Division. While in industry, I gained experience in data analysis, sales, product development, and process improvement. Additionally, I participated in ongoing research developments by assisting with wet processing of textile trials.
Prior to industry, I received my bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering from NC State University where I graduated in 2017. In this program, I worked with an industry sponsor on a team-based project to research and develop a microfiber cloth that responded to changing concentration of chemical disinfectant. This year-long capstone course sparked my passion for research.
