I'm partially retired and no longer accepting graduate students or being assigned new undergraduate advisees. I'm happy to talk with students in an informal capacity.
Prospective undergraduate students should reach out to Ms Sarah Griggs.
Prospective graduate students should consider other faculty in Forestry & Environmental Resources. Also reach out to our graduate coordinator, Mr Stephen Griffin.
I've left this page in place because people have found it useful.
Common Issues
All Students: ... Do NOT take courses for credit only. You must take courses for a grade, including electives. There are a few exceptions - check with your advisor!
Look at your Degree Audit ... in your MyPack Portal. Your goal is to make everything a green check. Anything else will prevent you graduating.Courses in the Non-Degree section do NOT count towards your degree - contact your advisor.
Fisheries, Wildlife, & Conservation Biology Students ... You may replace summer camp with a combination of two internship or study abroad experiences. Please complete this application for each internship or study abroad before beginning. The following courses are pre-approved and do not require application: the Bahamas, Namibia, and Nicaragua study abroad courses taught by our faculty.
Wildlife Students ... Our Wildlife curriculum will qualify you for The Wildlife Society's Associate Wildlife Biologist certification, if you take one of the -ologies (mammalogy, ornithology, etc) for your wildlife elective. Animal Behavior will not count for certification.
Need help with writing assignments? ... Take advantage of NC State's Academic Success Center.
Looking to change majors? ... I'd hate to see you go, but being in the right major is more important. I'm happy to talk with you about this, but can't provide detailed advice about other programs. When considering another major, you should visit one of their advisors for advice about transferring, the likelihood of qualifying for the major, and appropriate course recommendations.
