Welcome to the Intro to Entrez online workshop! This tutorial is designed to be worked through at your own pace and revisited as needed. After viewing this brief introduction video, you have completed part one!

The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) makes all of their databases available online for free. After watching the video tutorial, which will give you more background on NCBI and how their databases operate, complete Activity One below.

There are many benefits to having a MyNCBI account. To sign up for an account, you can either create your own login or sign in using university credentials. (For NC State affiliates, this means using the "google account" sign up option.)

NCBI has a multitude of databases arranged into different categories based on topic. Watch this video to learn about using the global query page to search all of them at once, as well as how to use the database Gene. Then complete the activity below.
