Bioinformatics and biomolecular databases can be powerful tools to support life science research. While the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) provides free access to millions of biomolecular records, learning how to leverage these tools can be daunting. This self-paced workshop will provide an overview on how to use NCBI databases, and introduce strategies for using Entrez to conduct text searches.
Accompanying their many databases the NCBI also makes available powerful analytical tools such as the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool, BLAST. This self-paced workshop will focus on BLAST as a means of discovery and computational analysis in the biomolecular sciences.
