But pausing for an emotional reset can help stop the spiral.⁠ “Stress resets are quick ways to improve how you feel in minutes. ⁠They allow you to do things that will help you solve problems rather than make things so much worse for yourself," says Jenny Taitz a clinical psychologist and author of "Stress Resets," which covers 75 science-backed techniques to help alleviate stress and anxiety in real time — and when to use them.⁠ ⁠ For example, when you feel like you have no control over your life — your apartment flooded, your date canceled, you lost your wallet – Taitz suggests doing a good deed, which can remind you of your agency and ability to live out your values.⁠ ⁠ These kind acts may even offer positive benefits to your health.
