NCSSM Explore STEM Virtual Mentoring Program
Explore is a mentoring program run by the Division of Extended Learning through the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Students are matched with groups of five to seven students and two to three STEM professional mentors. Groups meet every other week virtually to discuss different topics. Students also have the option to participate in 1:1 advising sessions with the program director.
Why Participate?
Students must be in the 10th or 11th grade
Attend a North Carolina public high school in Congressional Districts 1, 3, or 11 (see map below)
Have above a C average and no failing grades
Students must submit an application and letter of recommendation on the application portal.
Which Counties are in Congressional Districts 1, 3, & 11?
North Carolina High School students (grades 10-11) who are interested in exploring various careers in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and related fields from Congressional districts 1, 3 and 11 in North Carolina. See map below to see which counties are included.
Note: Cumberland, Granville, and Polk County students are eligible if they attend a public school or reside in these counties.
