Take college admissions test if needed/desired: SAT/ACT through ACT.org or SAT.org (School may waive this requirement).
Students with a weighted High School GPA greater than or equal to 2.50 and less than 2.80 are required to submit a standardized test score (ACT or SAT) for admissions to a 4 year college/university. Students with a weighted GPA above 2.8 are not required to submit scores.
Be sure you have an account through CFNC.org
Fill out the new Residency Determination form through CFNC.org with a Parent/Guardian. This must be completed prior to completing the college admissions application.
Sign up for your individual Senior Meeting with your assigned Counselor.
Attend Senior Parent Night and Financial Aid Night
Gather the names of the schools you are considering. Look for admissions deadlines and criteria, including average GPA, SAT/ACT Test scores, etc. (collegesimply website)
Note College Application Week (some schools waive their application fees this week)
Request and collect any needed recommendations. Choose people who know you well and give them plenty of time to write letters (2 weeks).
Fill out the Senior Activity Form listing your activities. This will help those writing letters of recommendation to be specific and know more about you.
If considering playing sports in college, be sure to register with the NCAA through the eligibility center and notify Mr. Dean through email to confirm you have registered properly
Use CFNC when applying to colleges in NC and to send transcripts
Use CommonApp when applying to colleges outside NC and to send transcripts.
When applying for college please know the difference between Early Decision and Early Action
Early Decision -These are binding and a student must attend the college
Early Action -Receives an early response to the application but does not have to commit.

Decide upon military career options and what branches offer what you would like to go into
Explore Military Occupations
Identify what branch you would like to enlist with
Meet with the local recruiter (We have information in our office)
Discuss Career Training, Paying for College While Active, GI Bill, ROTC Scholarship (If applicable), Officer Training, and Military Career.
Schedule your ASVAB with your military recruiter
Schedule Information meeting with your parent/guardian and the military recruiter
Ensure you keep communication with your recruiter throughout your last year of high school.
Notify your assigned counselor of your decision of desiring to enter the military and your career pathway
Complete a free account on CFNC.org to upload your transcript in case you enroll in a 2 year or 4 year college while in the military.

Meet with your assigned counselor to discuss your employment pathway
Explore certifications and credentials needed for your chosen profession.
Create a free account on CFNC.org to upload your transcript in case your place of employment sends you to a 2 year or 4 year college.
Attend the Employer In The Foyer held during the school year at Northern Nash High School to become exposed to options for employment right after high school.
Begin creating your professional resume to submit for employers
Establish 3 references for employers to contact for potential employment. Ask these 3 references if they would be willing to give you a positive reference.
