Chess Club was a HUGE Success this year!

Thank you to all 50 4th graders and all 30 5th graders who participated in this year's Chess Club!  I can honestly say that this years student participants came to chess club with more drive and passion that any group I have ever taught!  Thank you for giving up your recess time once a week, to try something new, and for doing such a phenominal job!

Shark Dissection Day was a HUGE SUCCESS!

Today was another exciting day Coopers Elementary School! Today, Mrs. Kristi Dean Adkins Fifth Grade Enrichment students dissected dogfish sharks as a way to review for the Science End of Grade Assessment in a few short weeks. Students compared human body systems to those of sharks as part of their culminating study.

Students worked in teams of three to dissect the dogfish sharks that were sponsored by a local Nash Community College mini grant written and received by Mr. Reggie Cobb.

Mr. Cobb helped lead the students through this exciting learning adventure! After dissecting the sharks, students were then able to present their findings and their dogfish shark with the fourth and fifth grade classes throughout the morning.  It was another wonderful day to be a bulldog!
