Where should you start research? Here are a few reliable sources to help with preliminary searches.
Tips and Tricks!
Read your briefing packet, and let the questions at the end guide your research. An example of an annotated briefing packet, if you want to note what you should pay attention to: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_Kmtv-9CXCXkdi8Z97Ya9Ayb7ZCAlXKk/view
Create a research binder with briefing packet, notes, sources, statistics, quotes, etc. for committee
Find strong sources (bibliography in briefing packet will have some) to incorporate in position paper to give yourself validity
As you are performing the final stages of your research, semantics allows you to focus any potential nervous energy into perfecting the character that you’ve created for committee. Some examples include bringing in a flag, creating a coat of arms for a character, speaking in an accent (if culturally appropriate), and pins. These kinds of small additions enhance the sense of realism that your character brings coming into committee.
