Please note: MHS/MAA/NCSD does not personally endorse any free choice title a student chooses; they are not required. Please use your own best judgement. These books are your choice. There is always another book to choose for a better fit. SEE Ms. Murschall FOR LOTS MORE CUSTOMIZED RECOMMENDATIONS.

College-Bound Readingย

There will be title duplication among these lists, but give different lists a try!

College-Bound Reading List: Recommended by our English teachers, this list is from Arrowhead County Library in Wisconsin and features college-bound American lit, world lit, biology & history, science, drama, and poetry titles. Most recently she has recommended an even bigger set of great lists from Goodreads: Listopia for College Bound Book Lists.

101 Books for College-Bound Kids: a fairly conventional list for both middle and high school students from GreatSchools.

Open Syllabus Project: Here all required reading across the country is rank-ordered--browse the top 50--solid titles. However, you can search by institution as well. For example, check out the top ten books required by Harvard, MIT, Brandeis, Boston College, and Amherst.

Outstanding Books For the College-Bound and Lifelong Learner: Created in 2014 by a team of experts at YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association). This set of lists includes titles for those interested in: Science & Technology, Social Sciences, Literature & Language Arts, History & Cultures, Arts & Humanities.

SEE ME (Ms. Murschall) FOR RECOMMENDATIONS OR TO FIND OUT IF A TITLE YOU HAVE IN MIND IS COLLEGE-BOUND, or ask your teacher!

The more you read, the more you know.ย
