We are so excited to meet our Mustang family and community and to collaborate on the best ways to support your student! Both Back to School Night and Teacher Conferences are events where you can meet with teachers, ask questions about content and lessons, and hear about our school's mission and vision.
During the high school years, homework gets more intense. At the same time, many teens are learning how to balance academics with extracurricular activities, social lives, and jobs.
An important way to help is to make sure your teen has a quiet, well-lit, distraction-free place to study that's stocked with supplies. Encourage your teen to ask for help when it's needed. Most Milwaukie and MAA teachers are available for extra help before or after school, and also might be able to recommend other resources.
It is important that students arrive at school on time every day because having to catch up with class work, projects, tests, and homework can be stressful and interfere with learning.
There can be many reasons a student doesn't make it to school. If they have a fever, are vomiting, or have diarrhea they should stay home. Bullies, low grades, social problems, and conflicts with friends and teachers may be other reasons a student doesn't come to school. Talk with your student to find out more about what may be causing the anxiety.
If you experience transportation, housing, and/or other barriers that keep your student from attending school, please contact the school counselor to hear about resources.
We love having our Mustang community come, visit, and help out! If you have the time, please considering volunteering at our school.
