CONCERT ATTIRE
What Do ANHS Musicians Wear?
As is the case with band and orchestra students, appropriate clothes are needed for concerts and other performances. This is so that we are unified as a choir and so that no one brings more attention to themselves than others. We want to look our best (professional) to perform our best.
HAWK CHOIR bass/tenors and A-CHOIR bass/tenors
Nice slacks and a button-up, long-sleeved dress shirt with a tie. Attire/dress is "black-out" with silver/gray tie or accessory. Shirts must be tucked in. Shoes should be appropriate to the outfit. No white shoes or white socks are allowed. This is normal, universally accepted concert attire.
HAWK CHOIR soprano/altos and A-CHOIR soprano/altos
A dress, a skirt (not a mini), or nice slacks with a button-up, long-sleeved shirt. Shoes should be closed-toe and be appropriate to the outfit (long, high heels are not acceptable because of tripping hazard). All high school student musicians should wear modest, professional-looking attire on stage.
A-CHOIR
Wear your appropriate "blackout" outfit under your robe to all performances unless otherwise noted. Keep your robe clean, neat, and hung up when you are not wearing it. You are responsible for your robe.
**CHAMBER CHOIR: There is a financial obligation to purchase an outfit to match your choir and strengthen its identity, usually around $90.00 for sops/altos and $240.00 for tenors/basses. Tuxedos are worn for more than one year and can last into a person's 20s. Dresses and tux tie colors are generally changed every two years. When we change outfits, outgoing singers sell theirs to incoming singers if they chose. See the director in case of a family financial hardship.
NOTE: Shorts, jeans, shirts with printing or pictures on them, white socks, and ski coats and jackets are not acceptable formal concert wear. Neither are tennis or skate shoes. Use good judgment in selecting clothing that is neat, modest and attractive.
