North Carolina Central’s Residency Education for Licensure (REL) is a model designed to assist residency candidates with meeting residency licensure requirements. REL participants can complete coursework with 8 courses with continuous enrollment. REL participants must follow a plan of study and remain enrolled until completion. Eligibility for a Residency License

  • A bachelor's degree.

  • A 2.7 cumulative GPA.

AND

  • 24 semester hours of coursework in the requested licensure area or passed the content area examination(s) required by the N.C. State Board of Education for the requested licensure area.

AND

  • Current employment as a full-time teacher.
