ARAX will be implemented as five web services (Fig. 1): ARAX-Filter, ARAX-Overlay, ARAX-Expander, ARAX-Predict, and ARAX-Baton, that will be callable through the Translator Reasoner Standard API. ARAX will use knowledge sources (KSs) that were previously built during the Translator feasibility assessment phase or that will be built by other Translator teams. Foremost of the KSs that ARAX will use is KG2, a knowledge graph previously developed by our team (see Resources). Additional KSs that ARAX will use include Columbia Open Health Data, BioThings, PubMed, and BigGIM (see below); ARAX will automatically select from among them based on a concept map that is dynamically generated from the Translator registry.
