Last Event of the Year: Field Day!
On the last day of school, we will have a field day from 9-11am!
Our wonderful lead volunteers have planned an excellent day, please click here: https://signup.com/go/yoLojGd
if you can contribute or come help!
Homework Expectations:
Read read read read read! I will be sending home a reading log for you and your student to fill out every week. If you don't do any other school work with your student PLEASE read aloud with them everyday.
Math:
We will work on our math worksheets everyday in class together. Sometimes the math worksheets will not be totally complete when they are sent home. They are not homework, but it is strongly encouraged that you look over these worksheets with your student and is very beneficial if they finish the worksheets at home.
We will also be practicing math facts in class. Repetition is the mother of memory. The more they practice these, the easier their math work will become. This is something that you can practice easily together. We will be sending math fact practice packets to completed at home. If you can, a little everyday is better than a lot on one or two days for retaining skills.
Math packets and reading logs will be due on Mondays.
Absence:
Sadly, sometimes we have to miss. I will send any worksheets your student missed home with them as soon as possible after they return. The work we do in class will be excused and optional as make up work. However, they will still be responsible for any tests or projects that are missed or are upcoming when they get back.
Our week ahead:
On Tuesday, we will be celebrating our 100th day of 2nd Grade!! To that end, we will be doing literacy and math activities that honor the very special number 100!!
Literacy:
We will be learning new words this week (list 2I) and practicing spelling words from List 2H for a practice test on Thursday.
Math:
Our math interventionist, as welll as our 3rd grade teachers, have given me recommendations on how to approach math for the rest of this year. We will be doing some remediation and review, and then we will move on to new topics. This will ensure that these second graders will be fully prepared for 3rd grade!
To that end, we will be spending this week on Chapter 6, multiplication and division. It might look familiar, but a quick revisit will do wonders!
Please check out the math resource page for more information about the different kinds of math your student is working on.
*While NOT required, I highly recommend looking over math pages your student brings home. Please check and correct the things they missed. *
