Educational Curriculum

• Literacy: Literacy Essentials            

  • Please see the image at the bottom of the page for an overview of our spelling word schedule. A little bit confusing but we are basically learning three fifty word spelling lists at a time, spending 6 weeks on each list, and staggering the introduction of each new list in two week intervals. I send spelling lists home to be studied after we have already studied a list for three weeks and no longer need to include orthographic (spelling rule) markings when writing the words.

Policies

Birthdays & Holidays

• We will not be distributing birthday or holiday treats or invitations in class. 

• Birthday bags will be distributed by the birthday kid and teacher at the end of the day.

Homework

• Grey Folders

  • These folders are used for sending home class work and paper notices and announcements.

  • Students will bring them home everyday whether or not they are carrying any classwork or documents.

  • The left pocket is for papers that stay at home.

  • The right pocket is for papers that need to be signed and sent back with your child.

  • Students will keep their reading logs in the right pocket to be signed and returned on Mondays.

• Reading Homework

  • Please help your child read 20 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights.

  • Please sign the reading log in their gray folder on those night and have students return them on Mondays.

• Math Homework: 

  • Students will have math homework on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

  • I will send home workbook pages or worksheets that we have already began in class to have checked and completed if they haven't been finished already in class. 

  • Please sign your child's math homework and send it back with them the next day.

Snacks

• Snack time is a quick 10 minutes.

• Please pack a small and nutritious snack for your child.

• Ensure that snacks are peanut and tree nut free for the safety of students with allergies.
