Whole group classroom lessons focus on social/emotional, academic, and career development skills. Lessons also support our school-wide character education program.
Classroom guidance lessons occur throughout the year and are planned with the classroom teacher.
Topics include character education traits such as patience, kindness, etc., multicultural awareness, conflict resolution, tattling vs. telling, goal-setting, and more!
"Lunch Bunches" are small groups of 4-7 students that meet 1x a week during lunch. Groups meet to address topics that many Parsons students share and experience. The group experience allows students to provide peer support and learn about each other outside of the classroom.
Groups may be focused on anxiety management, anger management, strengthening social skills, or grief/loss.
Individual counseling is a one-on-one meeting with a student, to address topics that may be affecting school performance or their social and emotional well-being. Topics are based on the needs of the student.
Some topics may include divorce or changing families, grief, stress/anxiety, social and communication skills, conflict resolution, self-esteem, and understanding feelings/emotions.
