Reading- 

Module 8 in Into Reading- focuses on various poems and stories about families who have immigrated to the United States and the challenges they face.  We will be focusing on elements of poetry, comparing and contrasting various story elements, and characters,  discussing the attributes of realistic fiction as well as talking about referring to the text when answering questions. about the story. 

Language-  

We will start off the year with talking about the Parts of Speech and then begin our writing with Personal Narratives.  We have been working on nouns and verbs, focusing on common and proper nouns, irregular plurals as well as verb tenses including irregular verb tenses.  We will be moving on to a quick review of adjectives which will be helpful as we will also be starting our Personal Narrative writing.  We will be doing some brainstorming for ideas on topics for a personal narrative and working on writing with details and using dialogue.
