Open Classroom Week is an opportunity for us to learn more about what our colleagues are up to, get new teaching ideas, and see what our students are experiencing across campus in their academic lives at Naz. Previous Open Classroom Weeks have even generated lasting professional collaborations.
Teach online? You can still participate by opening your Moodle course to visitors.
How does it work?
Complete the Google Form here (or above) to volunteer to open your class(es) to faculty and staff guests during the week of September 23. The volunteer period will end on Friday, August 30 at 6:00 pm. (Note: Opening your classroom is completely voluntary and is intended to be formative and collaborative. It is not intended to be evaluative in any way!)
Open Classrooms will be advertised to faculty and staff on a Google Sheet by Friday, 9/6. At that point, the Google Sheet will be available for viewing Open Classrooms and for signing up to attend specific classes.
The number of guests you are willing to host will determine the number of sign-up slots that will be advertised for your class.
Faculty and staff will sign up for slots to visit your class on the shared Google Sheet with their names and e-mail addresses. The sign-up period will end on Wednesday, 9/18 at 6:00 pm.
You will still be able to view the Google Sheet after the sign-up period has ended so that you will know who plans to attend your class. You may choose to send your visitors class materials or any other pertinent information prior to their visit.
New this year! You may choose to host a short de-brief session to talk about your class and teaching methods after your class is over. This will be shared on the guest sign-up form.
Week of 9/23-9/27: Teach your classes and attend others classes!
Share your Open Classroom Week experiences on social media using the hashtag #opennaz.
We hope you will participate in this exciting opportunity to learn more from and about one another and our great work as teachers!
