Zoom Security Settings Update

All Zoom meetings created on or after September 27, 2020 will be required to use either the Passcode  or Waiting room security features. This setting is part of Zoom's continuous effort to improve security.

In an effort to experience the least amount of disruption, Zoom meetings at Nazareth College will require the use of a Passcode or waiting rooms for all meetings moving forward. Although Passcode is the default setting when scheduling new meetings, you can easily switch the security setting for each meeting if you prefer to use the Waiting Room feature instead.

If no change is made by the meeting host, previously scheduled meetings will default to the Waiting Room security feature. While you can always select your preferred security setting, just remember that all Zoom meetings must employ at least one of the two available security options.

Please see our additional help guides for more information:

If you want to decide between the Passcode and Waiting Room security features on a case-by-case basis, you can make that selection as you schedule each meeting:

When the password setting is enabled, the meetings display an extended invitation link that include an embedded password.  If you share this extended link with meeting participants, it will automatically take them to the meeting.

By default, the one-click join option is set to be on for all new and instant meetings.  As always, use discretion when sharing your meeting links to avoid unwanted guests. In some situations, it will be better to keep your links and passcodes separate to increase the level of security. Simply toggle the setting off to separate the passcode from the meeting link.
