Adding Course Activities

Creating Resource Pages

While it is very easy to upload course materials such as word-processed documents, it can be more helpful to learners if content or written mini -lectures are added as Page resource. One of the benefits for using a Page resource is that  a download is not required to view content. Additionally, Pages can contain written content,  hyperlinks to other websites, and even embedded video content!

Think of a Page resource as a private web page for the students in your course. Faculty often use the Page resource to craft written mini-lectures, house course content, or provide students with a written overview of the week's activities.

Step 1: Toggle on  edit mode.

Step 2: Click +Add an activity or resource under the appropriate topic section.

Step 3: Scroll down to Resources within the pop-up menu and select Page.

Step 4: Click the Add button.

Step 5:

a. On the Adding a new Page screen, enter the file name in the Name field.

b. If desired, enter details in the Description field. It may be a good idea to limit the description to one or two sentences which will be visible on the course homepage. You will need to check the box "Display description on course page" to make the description visible to students.

c. Enter content in the Page content field using the text editor.  The text editor allows users to embed photos, insert hyperlinks, and embed video content too!

Step 6: Scroll to the bottom and click Save and return to course when finished.
