Student Level Reporting

Faculty enrolled in a  course have access to a number of reporting tools that can provide insight into course activity and  student progress.  Course reporting tools are based off of the system logs that track user actions and visits over time

Important note: Course  reporting tools should not be used as the sole method for determining achievement of course learning outcomes,  grades,  participation and/or cases of academic dishonesty.  The use of Moodle system reporting should always be combined with other assessment and evaluation approaches including formative and summative assessment tasks, faculty-student interactions, professional judgement, etc.

Student Level Reporting

In addition to course-level reporting, faculty can see a summary of overall activity for individual students in an outline report.

Step 1: Under the Participants header, click on the student name.

Note: The user profile can be viewed anytime a student name is a hyperlink in the system including within course-level reports shown in the above section.

Step 2: Under the Reports section of their profile, click on Outline Report.

Note: In addition to the Outline Reports, clicking All logs will outline every user click by the student in the selected course.

Step 3: The outline report will display showing their course activity. The outline report displays the number of views along with the date it was last visited.

Note: A view simply means each time they clicked on the activity or resource in the course. This does not necessarily mean they actually read the contents or completed it!
