In addition to an MEd in educational technology, I completed a graduate certificate in community college teaching and learning. Below, I showcase discussions centering topics important to two-year institutions. I also present a video exploring ungraded classrooms their possible benefits for community college students.
Low completion rates are a recurrent theme in community college scholarship. Whether focused on how poorly community colleges are doing, the factors that contribute to low completion rates, or what colleges are doing to improve student outcomes, community college completion rates are a continuing topic of discussion. In this paper, I first seek to assess completion rates at two-year colleges and how they compare to four-year institutions. I then examine whether the methodology used in compiling these metrics is adequate. Finally, I consider how we might improve completion rates, giving particular attention to aligning institutional support to students needs.
