About the Program

What is the purpose of the program?

The purpose of the Program is to provide students with an opportunity to study Spanish in a target language setting in order to improve language fluency. The short duration (first 3 weeks of August) will provide an option for students who cannot go abroad long-term, or may not be able to participate in programs taking place earlier in the summer. The lower cost will provide an option to students who cannot afford more expensive programs but still want to study abroad.

What are the goals of the program?

There are 3 main goals:

  1. Increase understanding, awareness, and appreciation of Mexican culture.
  2. Increase fluency. Develop students’ oral skills through cultural immersion (talking with locals, classes, volunteer work).
  3. Introduce, expose, and practice use of Spanish in a professional context through classes and volunteer work.
