Use specific examples for each. Go beyond simply listing Web 2.0 tools by: 1) explaining how and why the tool is an example of both strategies and 2) how it supports learners in the construction of their knowledge. (There are two examples posted as a template to follow).

Activity 2: VoiceThread
“Knowledge is exploding, so you need to commit yourself to a plan for lifelong learning.” Don Tapscott
“[C]ollaboration and communication online can be difficult due to the lack of face-to-face interaction or immediate access to the collaborators” (Ching & Hsu, 2013, p. 299). VoiceThread helps break down that barrier through its posting features that allow learners to comment using various tools including video, audio, and text to share thoughts and understandings. Through use of an image, document, or video, learners can collaborate and communicate ideas and understandings, connecting with other global learners on a more personal level as they can see and hear the comments being made, leading to a deeper level of understanding compared to digesting content on one’s own.

Activity 3: InfoViz
There are some amazing Web 2.0 tools available for visual representations (InfoViz).
- Use an InfoViz Web 2.0 tool to demonstrate one ONLE instructional strategy.
- Next, analyze the tool from an ONLE perspective. Discuss how the ONLE strategy is supported by the visual representation, and how you might use it to support student learning and achievement. Post your analysis on the Nabble discussion board and respond to three others.
- Create a InfoViz visual using any Web 2.0 tool and address the following questions:
- Based on your understanding of ONLE how would you incorporate ONLE strategies into your instruction?
- What are some advantages and disadvantages to using visual tools?
