What is sponge ID?
Sponge ID is a website that developed for represent the works on Indonesian sponge taxonomy. Sources and database used are mainly from World Porifera Database website. That database (WPD) is part of the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS), a global initiative to arrive at a register of all marine organisms. This website (Sponge ID) aim to be a catalogue of sponge diversity in Indonesia region (Central Indo-Pacific) in continuously updated.
Sponge ID adalah website yang dikembangkan untuk menyajikan data terbaru tentang diversitas spons (sponge) di perairan Indonesia. Basis data yang digunakan mengacu kepada World Porifera Database (WPD) dan hasil kajian relevan taksonomi fauna spons di Indonesia. WPD merupakan bagian dari basis data World Register of Marine Species yang dikelola oleh panel editor yang berisi pakar-pakar taksonomi dan sistematika spons untuk setiap taxa dan region di seluruh dunia. Sponge ID berfokus hanya kepada kajian taksonomi dan sistematika fauna spons yang berasal dari eko-region yang mencakup wilayah Indonesia.
