History Odyssey

Level One History Odyssey Courses are full of engaging activities and that tell history as an exciting story. They utilize many activities that provide a hands-on experience of history including craft projects, art projects, cooking, and coloring. Each guide includes several blackline maps that students complete throughout the course, integrating geography with the study of history. Age-appropriate reading books are gradually introduced and prepare the student for classic literature in level two programs.

Ancients (600 BCE-AD 500): From the first cities to the Byzantines Empire, Ancients level one is a complete one-year curriculum guide that combines history with activities, world geography, great books, and writing.Ancients level one is a teacher/parent guide that provides step by step lessons to teach world history from 6000 BCE to AD 500. Grades 1-4.

Middle Ages (500-1600): From the fall of Rome to Shakespeare, Middle Ages level one is a complete one-year curriculum guide that combines history with activities, world geography, great books, and writing. Middle Ages level one is a teacher/parent guide that provides step by step lessons to teach world history from AD 500 to 1600. Grades 1-4.

Early Modern (1600-1850): From Elizabethan England to the California Gold Rush, Early Modern level one is a complete one-year curriculum guide that combines history with activities, world geography, great books, and writing. Early Modern level one is a teacher/parent guide that provides step by step lessons to teach world history from 1600 to 1850. Grades 1-4.

Modern Times (1850-present): From Victorian England to the Gulf War, Modern Times level one is a complete one-year curriculum guide that combines history with activities, world geography, great books, and writing. Modern Times level one is a teacher/parent guide that provides step by step lessons to teach world history from 1850 to present. Grades 3-6.

Level two History Odyssey courses are intended for the student to use independently with minimal assistance from parent or teacher. In level two guides students learn information organization, literary analysis, research skills, and writing skills through reading some of the greatest historical literature for each time period. Level two guides teach outlining, timeline analysis, geography, and critical thinking through daily lessons that are written for students to use independently. Each guide includes all the necessary worksheets and blackline maps.

Early Modern level two is a student guide that provides step by step lessons to learn world history from 1600 to 1850. Students will also learn advanced outlining and summarizing skills, how to write an essay, research skills, literary analysis, critical thinking and analytical skills. Grades 6-8.

Modern Times (1850-present): From British Imperialism to the American Civil War to the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, Modern Times level two is a complete one-year curriculum guide that combines history with literature, world geography, and writing activities. Modern Times level two is a student guide that provides step by step lessons to learn world history from 1850 to the 21st Century. Students will also learn how to write an essay, how to write a research paper, literary analysis, critical thinking and analytical skills. Grades 7-8.
