Nursery Rhymes: 12 familiar rhymes come alive through fun, exciting projects. Each pocket contains an illustrated copy of a nursery rhyme, an art project activity, a comprehension activity, a pattern for a charming cover, reproducible pages to practice reading and/or math skill. Folktales & Fairy Tales: Every pocket begins with a reproducible retelling of a tale. Then, students cut, color, and staple the half-pages to make a minibook to put in the pocket. The unit also contains a teacher resource page offers suggestions for sharing the tale; comprehension, art, and writing activities to help the story come to life for students. The seven tales in this book include: The Little Red Hen; The Three Little Pigs; Goldilocks and the Three Bears; The Gingerbread Man; Little Red Riding Hood; The Three Billy Goats Gruff; Too Much Noise. Grades K-1.

Intermediate Units

Fiction: This unit contains art projects, writing projects, and reading record sheets. Each pocket also features a reproducible bookmark that defines the genre and lists suggested books to read. Topics included: realistic fiction, folklore, adventure stories, sports stories, science fiction, animal stories, mystery stories, jokes and riddles, historical fiction, poetry, humorous stories, and fantasy. Grades 4-6.
Greek and Roman Myths: Every pocket begins with a two-page reproducible retelling of a tale. Next, there is a teacher resource page that offers suggestions for sharing the tale, followed by comprehension, art, and writing activities follow, helping the story come to life for students. Grades 4-6.
Nonfiction Pockets: The first pocket presents the Dewey decimal system and includes activities for finding books in the library. The remaining 11 pockets present activities for various types of nonfiction as they are organized according to the Dewey Decimal System: people, religion and myths, folklore, language, nature and animals, mathematics, science and technology, arts/sport/recreation, poetry and plays, history and travel, biography. Grades 4-6.
Tall Tales: Every pocket begins with a two-page reproducible retelling of a tale, then continues with a teacher resource page offers suggestions for sharing the tale. Comprehension, art, and writing activities follow, helping the story come to life for students. A final pocket challenges students to write their own original tall tale, utilizing the story elements they have observed in the tall tales presented. Grades 4-6.
