Talking Circle Tuesdays
Talking Circle Tuesdays are the heart of our work at Native Sisters Circle, a consistent, culturally grounded space where Indigenous youth, especially girls, come together each week to connect, heal, and grow in their identity and leadership.
Rooted in traditional practices, each gathering begins with shared food and community-building, followed by an opening that may include, smudging, or cultural grounding. Youth are invited into a circle where every voice matters, creating a safe, supportive environment for check-ins, storytelling, and meaningful dialogue. Through guided discussions and interactive activities, participants explore topics such as leadership, mental wellness, cultural identity, healthy relationships, and advocacy.
While each session is supported by a dedicated youth staff co-facilitator, the space is deeply youth-led. Young people take initiative in leading cultural openings, guiding conversations, and supporting one another, often stepping into leadership roles organically. This peer-led model builds confidence, strengthens communication skills, and fosters a strong sense of belonging and accountability.
Talking Circle Tuesdays are more than a program, they are a community. A place where culture is medicine, voices are honored, and the next generation of leaders is nurtured with intention, care, and resilience.
