The 2022-2023 school year will be my thirteenth year as an educator and my sixth year at Wilson Middle School. While at WMS, I have taught Mathematics and Ancient Civilizations at the sixth grade level and Mathematics and World Geography at the seventh grade level.

I received my BA in Elementary Education and Psychology from Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI and my MEd in Middle School Mathematics from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.

For the first seven years of my career, I taught at an all-girls middle school in Lawrence, MA (Mathematics and Social Studies). I advised students in grades five through eight. I coached softball, basketball, and kickball. I mentored AmeriCorps teaching fellows during their first year as educators. I partnered with administration to lead school-wide professional development sessions on a variety of topics. 

I have always loved numbers and I have always had a passion for helping others. As a grade-school student, mathematics was not usually my best subject, but it was always a subject that I enjoyed. While some concepts would quickly click with me, others proved to be a real struggle. I know firsthand what it is like to be frustrated in math class; I also understand firsthand the importance of motivation, perseverance, and hard work. Now, as a teacher, I am able to empathize with my students when they encounter those challenging mathematical concepts. I am able to work with my students and guide them through a variety of strategies and methods to ensure their success; and when that success occurs, I am able to celebrate it with them. It is an absolute joy to see a student’s face light up when a complicated mathematics problem has been successfully solved or when a concept has been successfully understood.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, friends and Simon (my cat), exercising, and relaxing on the beach. I have completed three half-marathons and two Tough Mudders. I love to ride my Peloton Bike in the mornings before school or in the evenings when I return home. I am always looking to take on a new challenge! I love to travel and aim to have at least one adventure each summer. 

I truly love being a member of the Wilson Middle School community. I have enjoyed meeting so many wonderful students and their families. I look forward to working with all of you and supporting our students' success during this school year.
