Students in the Natick Public Schools begin learning band instruments in 4th grade. At the end of 3rd grade students hear the current 4th grade band demonstrate the instruments and are able to attend an Instrument Petting Zoo to try out the various instruments offered. As part of the band program, students receive group lessons and participate in band once each week. Lessons usually take place during lunch or recess and band happens before school begins. See schedules and times below for band at each school.
I am looking forward to making music again with our 4th grade band students. Over the next few weeks students will be starting lessons (after 9/19) and beginning to make their first sounds. Band will begin in late October to allow students to attend a few lessons first. More details about band and concerts will be emailed in the coming weeks.

Students will be learning their first scale this year for their instrument, please see the link below that includes the appropriate notes for all instruments.
This year students will be learning both Regal March and Montego Bay which are full band pieces (each instrument has its own part to play). To help with instruction, I've written out both parts for each instrument separately. Below you will find the written out top and bottom parts as well as alternative Oboe parts to both pieces. To hear a recording of each piece, please click on the title.
This is a nice demonstration of each instrument's sound but also gives you some background information too! The instruments that we offer in Natick include the Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone Horn/Euphonium, and Percussion.
