Answer: I give homework for math class on a nightly basis.
Nightly math homework assignments are meant to help students practice specific skills that we practiced in class that day, therefore students are encouraged to look back on their classwork from that day in order to help them with this homework assignment. Sometimes there are "spiral review" problems on homework assignments. These items are meant to review skills and standards that we have covered in previous math classes.
Homework assignments are meant to help students have more opportunities to practice what we've learned in class, therefore homework is graded only for effort. I need to see that students have shown their best possible work in order to give them full credit on an assignment. Homework should never take students longer than 20-25 minutes to complete. If students are having difficulty with an assignment, please write me a note on the assignment or send me an email (ahaskell@natickps.org) and I will work with your student to finish that assignment at a different time during school.
I do not assign typically assign nightly science homework. Science homework is assigned for long term projects (which will be announced) or if work was not completed during a class period in which there was enough time to complete the assignment.
All homework assignments are posted on the "Homework Calendar" tab on my website which is located at this link.
