College Application Process
Step 1: Application
Complete and submit your application (including essays) on one of the following application sites:
ApplyTexas is for all public and many private colleges in Texas. Click here to view the ApplyTexas essay questions.
Common Application connects you to more than 1000 colleges and universities. If you are applying to a Texas college, please use ApplyTexas. If your college is out of state or the application is not available on ApplyTexas, use Common App. Click here to view the Common App essay questions.
University website. If the college does not have an application in ApplyTexas or Common App, then there is most likely an application on the college's website.
Coalition Application is similar to the Common App but only connects to 150 colleges. You can only use the Coalition Application if this is the sole place the college application is located. For example, the University of Maryland at College Park, the University of Washington, and Virginia Tech applications are only offered through the Coalition Application.
Step 2: Fees
All Natalia ISD Seniors receive one College Application Fee Waiver through College Board that can be used an unlimited number of times. Search for participating colleges.
Pay the application fee or submit a fee waiver. You must have received an SAT waiver or qualify for free or reduced lunch through National School Lunch Program (NSLP) to submit an application fee waiver. Fee waivers are NOT uploaded in Apply Texas or Common App. The fee waiver is submitted to the college AFTER the admission application has been submitted.
Step 3: Send Scores
If you are applying with SAT or ACT scores, you must send the official score report through the testing agency (College Board for SAT, Success for ACT). It takes about a month for the college to receive the scores, so it is recommended that you request them through the testing agency about six weeks before the application deadline.
All Natalia ISD Students receive an SAT fee waiver due to the district's participation in the NSLP.
Step 4: Transcript
All students must request their official high school transcript through the Transcript Request Form. Do not request a transcript until you have completed the three other steps above. Doing so can lead to a delay in your application process.
If you are a Dual Credit student, YOU must request that your college transcript be sent to the schools you are applying for. Click here to request an SWTJC transcript.
