Competitive Show Choir Audition Requirements
Audition Information
There are three requirements for the Competitive Show Choir auditions:
Please prepare up to 1 minute maximum of a contemporary song (pop, musical theatre/Broadway, R&B, rock, indie, etc.) that best showcases your vocal strengths. When choosing your song, keep the following in mind:
Select a song that fits your vocal range comfortably and allows you to sing with confidence.
Choose a section that highlights your tone, pitch accuracy, breath control, and expressive ability.
Pick a moment that shows musical interest (for example: a verse and chorus, or a climactic section), rather than a repetitive or intro-only portion.
Avoid songs that rely heavily on background vocals or effects—your voice should be the focus.
Make sure the song is appropriate for a school setting.
You may sing with a backing track or accompaniment (instrumental only—no lead vocals), or a cappella if you prefer. Be prepared to start and stop confidently within the one-minute limit.
If you choose to sing with a backing track:
Please be prepared to connect your cellular device to our bluetooth speaker.
Please only use an instrumental only backing track.
Be prepared to complete a range check.
This is just for Mr. Burns to see how high and low you can comfortably sing.
Friday (March 6th), all students who have indicated in the Google Form that they are auditioning for Competitive Show Choir will receive a video link for the audition choreography. It will include both a front and back view, as well as a slow walk-through. This is why it is super important that you fill out the audition form. You will upload your video to my Dropbox link. Your submission will only be visible by me.
You will recieve further instructions on what to include in your video when the submission link is sent out.
You will also have the opportunity to briefly showcase any special dance-related skills you may have in your video. If you do not have any special skills, that is completely fine! Special skills may include (but is not limited to):
