Cecilian & Bass Choir (Mixed Choir)

This ensemble is open to all incoming freshman students who wish to develop their vocal skills. This course is designed to teach and reinforce the fundamentals of music, to increase knowledge and understanding of music, and to explore and perform challenging music in a variety of styles. Musical terms and vocal skills are taught so a student may progress to more advanced ensembles, if desired. The choir participates in a number of concerts throughout the year; attendance at all performances is required. No prior experience or audition is required.
Concert Choir (Intermediate Mixed Choir)
Course Codes: N58011 and N58012
This ensemble is open to sophomore through senior students who wish to continue the development of their vocal skills. During the school year, the students are exposed to a wide variety of choral literature. Students will be performing in four curricular concerts throughout the year. Attendance at these performances is required. No prior experience or audition is required.
Chorale (Advanced Mixed Choir)
Course Codes: N46011 and N46012
This auditioned ensemble is open to sophomore through senior students who display advanced vocal skill, knowledge and understanding of music, and who wish to continue development of their vocal skills. Music reading abilities and the demonstration of advanced vocal proficiencies are a prerequisite for this ensemble. Emphases in the class are on advanced choral techniques and independent singing skills. Students are expected to be self-motivated and leadership oriented. Availability for extra-curricular performance, select ensembles, or music festivals may be required. Members may also be required to audition for ILMEA traditional and vocal jazz senior ensembles.
Treble Choir (Advanced Treble Choir)

This auditioned ensemble is open to sophomore through senior treble voices (Sopranos and Altos) who display advanced vocal skill, knowledge and understanding of music, and who wish to continue development of their vocal skills. Music reading abilities and the demonstration of advanced vocal proficiencies are a prerequisite for this ensemble. Emphases in the class are on advanced choral techniques and independent singing skills. Students are expected to be self-motivated and leadership oriented. Availability for extra-curricular performance, select ensembles, or music festivals may be required. Members may also be required to audition for ILMEA traditional and vocal jazz senior ensembles.
Auditions occur in the January/February. Please contact Ms. Berryhill and Mrs. Mielcarz to schedule an audition. Students new (or returning!) to the NCHS Choir Program are welcome to audition.
Concert Attire purchase is required for all ensembles.
