About
The Floyd Couty Youth Symphony (FCYS) was organized in 1974 to give outstanding young musicians the opportunity to experience a challenging music environment. Membership in FCYS is open to any qualified student in Southern Indiana or the Louisville metropolitan area. FCYS is divided into three orchestras for students at differing levels of technical and musical development.
FCYS is unique in that, being sponsored by the New Albany Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation, the Indiana State Department of Public Instruction recognizes FCYS membership as a class. High school students receive class credit for membership in the Philharmonic Orchestra.
