Class Policy & Supply list

Welcome to Ms. Saroj's Modern Health Classroom!

I am a Modern Classroom teacher, meaning I create instructional videos so each of my students can move at their own pace and be graded on mastery. This use of technology allows me to work with students one-on-one or in small groups. In my class, different students will be working on different lessons on any given day, collaborating with students who are also working at their pace, or seeking help from students who are ahead. All students revise their work until they show true understanding of the material, and then advance to the next lesson. You can learn more about this research-based instructional model at modernclassrooms.org.

Grades

In order to pass Health, students are required to complete the Must Do work and successfully pass the Mastery Checks

Should Do and Aspire To work are activities or extensions that help further learning and show that students are going above and beyond the minimum requirement.

*To earn a grade higher than 65 on a lesson, students have to complete most of the Should Do and some or most of the Aspire To work.*

Mastery Checks

With each guided lesson, you will reach a step labeled Mastery Check. You will ask for a Mastery Check from the instructor and complete it without notes or classmates.

If you scored below an 80% on any Mastery Check, the instructor will review it with you and then you will revise it or take another Mastery Check covering the same skill. Retakes and revisions must happen within two (2) consecutive Health class periods for mastery credit.

Plagiarism of any type will be reported to the administration immediately and dealt with as they see fit according to the Code of Conduct. We will be checking to make sure all work submitted is the students’ work and not anyone else's.

NOTE:  If you are ever unsure about what constitutes plagiarism or about the acceptability of work you are doing, it is your responsibility to ask your teacher before you turn in your work.

There will be some homework assignments to do with an adult at home!

Extra credit may be offered at teacher discretion. Please contact your instructor.

Late arrivals / attendance will be dealt with according to the latest and most appropriate NACS policy.

Arriving to in-person Health class late without a pass three times or more in a semester results in a detention for every unexcused late arrival thereafter.
