Google Workspace For Education and Google Drive
Teachers and instructional staff use Google Workspace for documents and cloud storage. These tools include Google Drive (storage), Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Forms.
We also utilize Google Shared Drives for campuses and other groups that need to share documents with multiple people.
You can access your Google Workspace files in Google Drive from any computer with internet access.
You can also go to Google.com and click on the app “waffle” beside your Profile picture to access all of your NISD Google apps. Be sure you are signed into Chrome.
Logging in the First Time
Username
Your username is your first initial + last name. Example: jdoe@nacisd.org
Password
Your password must be changed when you log in for the first time.
How-to:
You’ll be prompted to change your password when you log in to your computer.
Make sure the new password is at least 12 characters long. (Special characters and capital letters are recommended )
Pro Tip: Think of a phrase! Using a phrase you can remember will help you reach the character threshold. We recommend it, and it will also help you remember your password.
Examples:
mydogmycatmyfriends
runjumpskiphophappy
NISD Bookmarks
As long as you are logged into Chrome with your NISD login and password, you will see the “NISD Bookmarks” shortcut on the top left of your Chrome Bookmarks bar. The links give you quick access to the website, Classlink, Incident IQ and the NISD Directory.
NISD Directory
Please take a moment to visit our online staff directory. Once there, search for your name and update your room number and phone extension. Keeping this information current helps departments such as Plant Services, Technology, and other campus staff easily locate and contact you when needed.
Papercut Printing
Phishing
Please always be aware that you will have bad actors who will try to deploy email phishing in our age. Phishing emails may appear to be from reputable companies or NISD employees such as your supervisor, principal, Human Resources, or the Technology Department.
Some good tips:
Never send money or gift cards to someone who requests these by email, even if the email seems to come from a principal or supervisor.
Never click a link from HR or the Technology Department/HelpDesk asking you to input or change your BISD username or password, even if it tells you to act fast to avoid losing access.
Do not open attachments to emails that you are not certain are safe.
These are all phishing emails designed to get your Nacogdoches credentials and access to our network. These individuals would love to install Ransomware or access our staff/student data. They would also like to steal your money, access your personal information, or your credit card information.
Some things to check:
Check the sender’s email address. Is it accurate? Sometimes, even one letter or the extension can be changed in an email address (example: jdoe@naciisd.com)
Does the email seem to come from a NISD employee but contains the red [EXTERNAL EMAIL] warning? Be very careful about clicking on any attachment from an external email
Single Sign-on
The NISD Classlink Portal contains most of the applications you use daily. Once you log in the first time, you are signed in to all your apps.
You can get to the Portal by just clicking on your NISD Bookmarks shortcut or the website
