The National Association for Clean Air (NACA) is proud to host its Annual Conference, continuing our collaboration with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment’s Air Quality Governance Lekgotla. This year’s theme, “Bridging Data, Community & Climate for Cleaner Air,” underscores the urgent need to integrate scientific evidence, community insight, and climate realities to advance air quality solutions in South Africa.
Building on two decades of progress since the enactment of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (Act No. 39 of 2004), this conference brings together air quality professionals, researchers, government officials, and civil society to confront one of our most persistent challenges: the accurate identification and effective management of emission sources.
As we navigate a complex landscape of legacy pollutants, emerging technologies, and growing environmental justice concerns, our aim is to foster evidence-based approaches that link ground-level data with lived experience. The conference will explore innovative monitoring tools, community-based engagement strategies, and policy frameworks that support targeted interventions and responsive air quality governance.
Through open dialogue, shared learning, and practical collaboration, we seek to clarify the sources of pollution, amplify the role of communities in shaping solutions, and ensure that climate and air quality goals are tackled together. Join us in building the bridges needed for a cleaner, healthier and more equitable air future.
