As the secondary counselor at North Tama, one of my roles is to help students with short and long term mental health issues. Many teens experience mental health issues, particularly anxiety and depression, but other issues can also arise during this time. I work with students to address mental health concerns and particularly how they are impacting their ability to function at school. We work together to make a plan at school that will support the student. I can also make referrals to a mental health counselor, doctor, or facility.
