This module allowed me to develop many skills and competencies that will be beneficial for me in my varsity life and career one day.
The skills and competencies I developed
Time Management: These skills were developed by balancing classes, assignments and preparation for tests while balancing social skills and the ability to have a social life beyond my varsity life.
Critical Thinking: The University encourages its students to develop critical thinking skills. This will assist them while completing their degree and any other tasks that require students to have deeper thinking.
Problem-solving Skills: Whether it's university work, group assignments or figuring out how to work with other individuals with differing views, university and this module has taught me how to properly problem solve, in a way that's not only beneficial for myself but others as well.
Research Skills: This module's group assignment requires an immense amount of research to complete. A beneficial skill that I acquired is knowing what to search for, and how to search for it in order to complete my tasks and assignments.
Communication Skills: As a student of IFS233, and many other modules, communication skills are very important. Whether it is communicating to your fellow group members, communicating to lecturers or to your classmates, knowing how to communicate effectively will help you to overcome many challenges you may have.
Time Management
I could use time management techniques to prioritise tasks, set various goals and allocate time for personal activities. In the workplace I could use time management to meet project deadlines, prioritise tasks based on importance and their due dates and avoid procrastination.
Critical Thinking
I could use it to analyse news articles, advertisements and information before making decisions. It would help me to evaluate data, proposals and strategies critically. I could weigh pros and cons to make informed decisions.
Problem-solving Skills
These skills could be used to solve everyday issues efficiently, tackle work-related challenges and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Research Skills
These skills could be used to effectively conduct research to make informed decisions, conduct market research, gathering data and analysing trends.
Communication Skills
These skills could be used to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, clients and supervisors. It would also help to ensure successful collaboration on group projects or social activities.
Self-Care Skills - University life can be demanding, and many students forget to look after themselves while studying. Developing self-care practices can help manage stress and maintain good mental health.
Networking - This involves building a professional network, which is essential for future career opportunities.
Information Technology Skills - As an aspiring Business Analyst, it is necessary for me to be familiar with technology and software tools. These skills will assist me in doing my job as efficiently as possible.
