Battery Overview
The VEX V5 Battery is designed to work together with the VEX V5 Brain and VEX V5 Smart Motor(s) to power a consistent and reliable performance, even when the battery charge is low. The VEX V5 Battery (Li-Ion 1100mAh) was designed to maximize motor performance. The battery has enough power to run 10 VEX V5 Smart Motors at full power continuously.
The run time on a fully charged battery depends on your robot/model’s design, how the robot/model is used, and the number of motors used. Mobile robots often get 30+ minutes of heavy drive time from a single charge.
Connecting the Battery to the Brain
Connect the VEX V5 Battery Cable’s rectangular connector to the base of the battery. Make sure that the clip on the connector is positioned correctly.
Connect the other end of the battery cable to the V5 brain.
3. If the brain does not automatically power on, press and hold the Power button until the Home screen is displayed
Charging the Battery
If the robot battery is disconnected from the brain while charging, the battery can fully charge in about one hour.
Tips:
Fully charge batteries are fine when being used often in class.
NEVER overcharge the batteries or leave on charger overnight. Take off battery once fully charged.
Do not store fully charged batteries. Batteries should be stored when not in used between 40% and 50% charged or it could damage the battery.
Do not let your battery run out of charge all the way! If you see a red light, put it on the charger immediately!!
If you want to mount your battery to the bottom of your structure, you need the following materials:
2 Battery clips
4 1/2 inch screws
4 keps nuts
hex key allan wrench
Use the screws and Keps nuts to attach the battery clips underneath the mounting structure.
2. Secure the battery into the clips. Press the battery into the clips until you hear and feel it click into place.
3. Use the battery cable to wire the battery to the brain. Be sure to insert the battery cable correctly so that it clicks into place
