When thinking of enrichment opportunities, look to not just only academic enrichment, but also enrichment in music, leadership, athletics, and more. Theater enrichment opportunities can be found through Community Ed. (Drama Club) and organizations like SOAR. Below are school-sponsored enrichment opportunities at the middle school level.

There are many course offerings through our local Community Education that offer enrichment for all learners. Whether it's Writer's Club, Art Club, Knowledge Bowl, Science Olympiad, or a new music choice, there is something for everyone to stretch as learners.

Students in 5th grade are invited to participate in Math Masters.
NWTA is a collaborative venture from local school districts, designed to provide high-level summer programming for identified high potential learners. NWTA partner districts are: Monticello, St. Michael-Albertville, Annandale, Big Lake, Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose, Maple Lake, Becker, and Elk River Area School District.
Students in grades 7-12 may join the high school speech team. Speech provides a great opportunity to engage in creative and critical thinking, as well as practice public speaking and performance skills.
Students in grades 5-8 may become a Student Council member if elected by their peers. Elections typically happen in the spring (although 5th grade hosts their election in the fall).
7th graders are invited to apply to become WEB leaders in the spring of 7th grade. Chosen students will remain a WEB leader throughout their 8th grade year.
Finally, please know that there are LOTS of opportunities close to home and around the metro for gifted students. There are opportunities for children, parents, and families. Please check out this page for groups like MCGT, MITY, Young Scientists Roundtable, and more.
