THE EXPERIENCE
Runners attending camp rise with the sun each day and gather for pre-run snacks and drinks. Once the coaches have had some coffee, the warm-up begins, followed by a run briefing. Each runner will have access to a run-map and given turn-by-turn directions. Runners leave for the run in groups, accompanied by a coach.
After the run, everyone gets breakfast (coaches get more coffee), and then it is time to shower, relax, and hang out with teammates. In the afternoon, runners have access to the “kitchen” for lunch and are welcome to hike, play, and relax for most of the day. We will meet as a group in the late afternoon for a short workout and a “classroom” session. Coaches will lead lessons on different fundamentals of training. The team will be broken into learning groups based on experience in order to ensure the lessons are age and experience appropriate.
In the evening, runners will help parent volunteers to prepare dinner and the team will eat together. Fire rings and marshmallows are available for evening campfires.
We also rent the local movie theater for an afternoon.
