What is Advanced Placement (AP)?
The Advanced Placement program includes college level classes regulated through the College Board. The College Board helps students prepare for successful transition to college through preparatory programs including the Advanced Placement program and SAT. At RCS, it is an optional program designed to offer our students enrichment by encouraging students to dig deeper into subjects that interest them. The rigorous nature of the program helps high school students develop their communication and research skills and better prepare for their post-secondary studies.
Will taking AP courses grant a student university credit?
Most universities will grant credit in approved courses to students who achieve a 4 or 5 on international AP exams. These exams are written in May of each year. Results are released mid July.
Are students able to take an AP Exam for a course, even if it is is not offered at RCS?
Yes. Students may take any AP test as an independent/self-study course/exam. Students must complete a form available from the AP Coordinator that outlines the motivations for the independent study. This plan must be submitted and approved by the high school office by November 15th of the year the exam is taken. The exam cost is 150.00.
Is there an additional cost to take Advanced Placement classes at RCS?
Yes. Regina Christian School recovers the 150.00 cost for the College Board Exam.
Once the exams are ordered, students choosing not to write the exam will be charged the 75.00 restocking fee.

The actual AP course occurs in either the grade 11 (Biology) or grade 12 (Chemistry/Physics/English/Calculus)
