sustainability

One of our priorities is to ensure that our team is sustainable for years to come. Because we are a public school team and most of our members are 8th graders, a huge chunk of our group leaves after the school year concludes. That's why every year we hold tryouts and our captains tend to accept at least 2 seventh graders onto the team.

Team Recruitment

Every year, we hold a lengthy and rigorous tryout process at the beginning of the school year. We encourage all incoming seventh and eighth graders interested in robotics to apply. This is how we ensure that our robotics program can be continued even after our previous captains and members have left. This season, we were able to receive over 80 applicants, the highest turnout we've seen in years! The tryouts process required applicants to fill out a resume detailing their experience with STEM and FIRST, complete a "Core Values" activity, and take a FTC assessment where general knowledge, CAD, hardware, and programming questions were tested. In the end, only 6 out of the 80 applicants were chosen to join this team.

Team Finances

In order to buy parts and host large events, our team reaches out to various companies for sponsorships. This is how we mainly fundraise. We occasionally hold bake-sales, as well, to raise money. Learn more about our sponsors below!
